President and CEO, Ardent Health Services

Marty Bonick is President and Chief Executive Officer of Ardent Health Services. Ardent is one of the largest private health systems in the U.S., encompassing 30 hospitals and more than 200 sites of care across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Idaho, and New Jersey. Ardent employs more than 26,000 people including over 1,300 employed providers who collectively deliver over 2.7MM patient encounters each day.

A veteran healthcare leader, Marty brings nearly 25 years of experience driving business growth through innovation and quality improvement across a variety of healthcare settings. With experience in for-profit, non-profit, public, and privately held companies, Marty has held senior management roles in large tertiary and academic medical centers, multi-site networks of inpatient and outpatient facilities, and physician services organizations.

Prior to his appointment as President and CEO of Ardent Health Services, Marty was CEO of PhyMed Healthcare Group, a national provider of anesthesia and pain management services. Throughout his tenure, he drove significant growth both organically and through the acquisition and integration of multiple important partners. Before joining PhyMed in 2017, he served as a Division President at Community Health Systems, where he led operations for a $4.5B portfolio of 36 hospitals, associated clinics, outpatient centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and urgent care operations across six states. While at CHS, he led the integration of 15 new hospitals into his division while experiencing significant volume and EBITDA growth.

Previously, Marty was CEO of Jewish Hospital and Senior Vice President of Operations for Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky. He began his healthcare career at Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was acquired by Ardent Health Services in 2004. Throughout his 11-year tenure at Hillcrest, he held a number of leadership positions, including Vice President of Operations for Hillcrest Medical Center and CEO of Oklahoma State University Medical Center.

Marty is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He holds dual Master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis in Health Care Administration and Information Management, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois.
