Philip Hertik is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Windsor Health Group, Inc., which was founded in 2000 as a managed healthcare company and was sold to global insurer Munich Re in 2010. Windsor owned and operated Windsor Health Plan, Inc., a southeast regional Medicare Advantage health plan and Windsor HomeCare Network, a specialty managed care company. When sold to Munich Re, Windsor had annual revenues of approximately $500MM.
Prior to founding Windsor, Phil served as an independent consultant and investor in the healthcare industry, including the development of a dental practice management company on behalf of CompDent Corporation and a national private equity firm, serving as the company’s first President.
Phil was also previously the Chairman and CEO of Coventry Corporation (now Coventry Health Care), a publicly traded regional managed care and insurance organization. During Phil’s 8-year tenure with Coventry, the company grew through acquisitions and achieved significant internal growth from $50MM in revenues to nearly $1B, with the market value of the company’s equity exceeding $700MM. Coventry was acquired by Aetna in 2013 for an enterprise value exceeding $7B.
Prior to joining Coventry, Phil served in senior executive capacities for Preferred Care and HealthAmerica, both managed care companies. Earlier in his career, Phil was Assistant Administrator of Saratoga Hospital. He began his career as an accountant with Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young), with a practice concentration in healthcare.
Phil was a founding Director of the Nashville Health Care Council, a trade group serving the interests of the many healthcare organizations headquartered in Nashville. In addition, he currently holds Director roles with Amplion Clinical Communications, Patient Focus, and Concert Genetics, and is a member of the Council Capital CEO Council and the advisory board of Nashville Capital Network. Previously he served as a Director of several successful healthcare companies including, Athena Diagnostics, a provider of highly specialized genetic assays, and Tandem Healthcare, a regional provider of post-acute services. He is a member of the board of the YMCA Joe C. Davis Outdoor Center and previously served on the boards of The Ensworth School and Nashville Rowing.
Phil is a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a Master’s degree in accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the State University of New York.
